I am feeling really happy to back on LiveJournal! I was active here a few years ago, but let it go as I needed to spend more time on the rest of my life. But now I'm nearly done with Library School and am at home most of the day working on my dissertation & doing what I can to heal my injured knee I thought it was time to get back into LiveJournal, especially as there are so many US Librarian communities here. And as my knee injury has made life in London untenable for the forseeable future I think I will be getting my first post-qually job as a Proper Librarian here in the USA, I really need to get more into the US Librarian mindset. I was very happy to find this page on the ALA website today as it means my CILIP accredited MSc should be acceptable here in the US even though it is not ALA accredited. I have to finish (erm, "start"?) my dissertation & heal to the point I can reliably walk, stand, kneel, shelve, etc before getting a job, but it's very cheering to know I'll be in the running for a proper job eventually! |
